- +o For systems running versions of IRIX older than 6.5.23,
- the IRIX Interactive Desktop will not be configured to
- run mam, despite the existence of a configration file
- produced by mamcfg. As a workaround, do the following:
-
- +o Modify the system file /var/X11/xdm/Xsession.dt to
- run 4Dwm, toolchest, and fm via mam if a user's
- $HOME/.desktop-<hostname>/mam file contains the
- lines MAM_4DWM=TRUE, MAM_TOOLCHEST=TRUE and
- MAM_FM=TRUE respectively. If MAM_LOAD_RES is TRUE
- then use xrdb to merge resources from the file
- assigned to MAM_RESOURCES. This modification of
- Xsession.dt can be done automatically using
- 'mamcfg -X'.
-
- +o Ensure that mamcfg has been run to create a file
- $HOME/.desktop-<hostname>/mam for each user
- wishing to use mam on the desktop.
-
- +o The SGI look-and-feel is lost when applications are run
- via mam.
-
- +o Scroll-bar handles are made invisible in some ViewKit
- applications when run via mam. See
- /usr/lib/X11/mam/mam_resources for examples of how to
- set resources which workaround this problem.
-
- +o Some mam resources, e.g. tooltips and mnemonics, set
- via the MAM Application Inspector for ViewKit
- applications are not read into mam when the application
- is run with mam. As a fix, the resource file created
- by the Inspector can be modified via the mam_res_fix
- script. This needs to be run each time you exit from
- the Inspector after having modified any resource.
-
- +o GL screen savers don't work with mam. When changing a
- saver via the screensaver gui, run screensaver with
- mamoff or via a toolchest started with mamoff. To fix
- the saver started by 4Dwm at login, run 4Dwm without
- mam, i.e. mamcfg -4 off. Alternatively, edit
- $HOME/.desktop-<hostname>/panelsession and prepend
- mamoff to the screen saver command. Note that this
- change will be overwritten whenever the saver is
- changed via the screensaver gui.
